Review: Body Shop Lily Cole Shimmer Cubes Palette 24

Just thought I would share that Body Shop is having post-Christmas sales. I wanted to check out their xmas makeup series which were going at 40% off for certain items.

I picked out their shimmer cubes palette 24 – Lily Cole. It was retailing at SGD 36.90. after 40% discount, the quad came up to SGD 22.14.

Just to put it out there that there were no testers and based on the previous shimmer cubes I owned, I was expecting better colour payoff.

The Lily Cole has 4 shimmery colours. One is a maroon/wine colour called Think Pink (top left). There is also a soft lilac/lavender colour called Live Lilac (top right). Bottom left is Go Violet which is a darker reddish/purple. Bottom right is Tint it Pink. Light beige/pink which would be a pretty highlighter.

For what it is worth, the colours do shimmer. A lot! I was expecting the true colours to show up more rather than just shimmer. This cube is good for all skin types. Here is why:

If you are tan, the lilac and soft pink could be a highlighter or a pretty lid colour. It would definitely show up on your lid and against a tan skin, the colours would be more vibrant. The dark colours are subtle against tan skin and would be more wearable for a day time look.

For fain skin readers, the lilac and soft pink would be gorgeous highlights for below the brow and inner tear duct. The darker colours on the left would make a pretty eye lid colour. Alternatively, you could use soft pink for highlight. Main lid colour could be lilac. Crease could be think pink and eye liner would be dark purple.

Colours are complementary and would look good together or be used on their own.

For that price, though, I would rather get a sleek palette. More colours, better payoff. Sparkle 2 limited edition would be a good substitute!
